3rd or 4th Year? Here's What Your Last Two Years Could Look Like.

Let's be straight about something.

Plenty of apprentices finish their time knowing how to rough in a house and not much else. They get their licence, and then they find out the hard way that the licence was the easy part.

We'd rather you didn't have that experience.

At Prosparx, apprentices work alongside licensed electricians and systems technicians on the stuff that actually pays well once you're qualified. Nurse call, access control, CCTV, data and structured cabling, electrical, across aged care, healthcare and commercial sites. The systems we install are the ones people press the button on at 3am. Get it right and nobody notices. Get it wrong and somebody is left waiting for help.

You'll be shown how to do it properly. You'll also be expected to keep up.

What You'd Actually Be Doing

Prosparx is a Thomastown-based electrical and technology contractor. We have a strong work schedule locked in through 2026 and well into 2027, so there's no shortage of hours or variety.

Alongside a qualified tradesperson, you'll be:

• Roughing in and terminating nurse call systems in aged care facilities

• Running and terminating data and structured cabling

• Assisting on access control, intercom and IP CCTV installations

• General commercial and domestic electrical work

• Learning how systems get tested, commissioned and handed over, not just installed

• Working cleanly and respectfully around residents, patients and staff

By the time you're licensed, you'll have a skill set most newly qualified sparkies simply don't have.

Before You Apply - Read This Bit Properly

Some of our contracted work is in regional Victoria and interstate. That means nights away from home (week days only). It suits some people well and doesn't suit others at all - think it through honestly before applying, because it's a genuine requirement of the role.

Because most of our work is inside aged care facilities, the vaccination and clearance requirements below are inherent requirements of the position.

Who We're Looking For

You're in your 3rd or 4th year of an electrical apprenticeship, and:

• You turn up, on time, without being chased

• You're self-motivated - we're busy, and we need people who get on with it

• You ask questions when you don't know something, instead of guessing

• You take pride in neat work, even the parts nobody will see again

• You're safe, and you speak up when something isn't

• You're genuinely interested in how the systems work, not just where the next smoko is

• You want to come out of your time with something worth having

Essential or must be obtained

• Currently indentured in a 3rd or 4th year electrical apprenticeship

• Current driver's licence

• White Card

• COVID-19 vaccination

• Current flu vaccination

• Police Check (can be obtained if employed)

• Working with Children Check (can be obtained if employed)

• The right to work in Australia

Any exposure to data or structured cabling is a bonus, but we'll teach you.

What We Don't Do

We don't use apprentices as cheap labour and hope they pick something up along the way.

We don't leave you standing around waiting to be told what to do.

And we don't pretend that finishing your apprenticeship is the end of the learning, it's the start of it.
