South Burnett Regional Council is one of the largest employers within the region, with offices and depots located in Kingaroy, Nanango, Wondai, Murgon, Proston and Blackbutt.

Council is comprised of three (3) Departments: Executive Services, Finance & Liveability, and Infrastructure. About the Region
The South Burnett Region is ideally situated just 2 - 3 hours' drive to Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast and Fraser Coast. The region is home to the stunning Bunya Mountains, where you can enjoy spectacular rainforest walks, nights by the fire in hidden chalets and the best scenic views Queensland has to offer. The South Burnett region is renowned for its great wine, gourmet foods and recreational facilities such as Lake Boondooma and Yallakool tourist parks.
About the role

$118K - $133K per annum + Allowances + Super
Council is seeking a Principal Project Manager to provide a high level of technical supervision for civil works programs relating to the construction and maintenance of key infrastructure assets, with a particular focus on water, wastewater, and waste. This role requires close collaboration across various infrastructure departments to ensure the effective coordination and delivery of projects. The position will offer strategic leadership in the planning, development, and implementation of works programs, supporting the construction and long-term maintenance of public infrastructure. Responsibilities include the project management and supervision of capital works and other civil works projects, from initiation through to completion. The successful applicant will bring substantial experience in the management and delivery of civil works projects involving public infrastructure, along with a strong understanding of technical, financial, and operational requirements.
Additional Factors
Participation in after hours and weekend work is a requirement of this position
Working outdoors in hot conditions
Mandatory Qualifications
Minimum requirement of a current C Class driver’s licence.
General Safety Induction for Construction Worker Certification (White Card).
Desirable Qualifications
Tertiary qualifications in relevant field (e.g. Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Project Management)
RPEQ membership or eligibility to obtain (highly regarded)

Skills and experience
**Please address the following key selection criteria items below, as part of your application**
Substantial experience in the management and delivery of civil works projects involving the construction and maintenance of public assets.
Extensive knowledge and previous experience in the development of civil works programs and project milestone development.
Relevant experience in project management and contract administration relating to the maintenance of water, wastewater and waste infrastructure.
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills strongly focused on the provision of quality customer service, conflict resolution and cross collaboration.
Ability to supervise staff, stimulate a high level of performance and foster teamwork.
