Matching Minds is looking for reliable and engaging Maths and English tutors to provide one-on-one, in-home tutoring to primary and secondary students across Yarraville, Seddon, Kingsville, Footscray, West Footscray, Maidstone and surrounding suburbs.

About the role

You’ll work one-on-one with students in their home, providing personalised academic support based on their needs, goals and learning style.

Depending on the students you’re matched with, you may:

• Tutor Primary or Secondary Maths and English
• Break difficult concepts into clear, easy-to-understand steps
• Help students with homework, assignments and exam preparation
• Build confidence and encourage independent learning
• Develop stronger study habits, organisation and time management
• Adapt your approach to suit different students and learning styles
• Provide encouragement, motivation and ongoing academic support
• Build positive relationships with students and their families

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for tutors who are:

• Confident tutoring Maths and/or English
• Patient, encouraging and able to build rapport with students
• Clear and confident communicators
• Reliable, organised and professional
• Able to explain concepts in a simple and engaging way
• Passionate about helping students improve
• Interested in working consistently with students over the longer term

You don’t necessarily need to tutor every year level or both subjects. We match tutors with students based on their strengths, experience, location and availability.

Hours

Tutoring sessions are typically 60–90 minutes, with most tutors working around 3–10 hours per week depending on their availability and how many students they choose to take on.

Most sessions take place after school, during evenings and on weekends.

Requirements

To be considered, you’ll need:

• A current Working with Children Check
• Your own ABN
• Reliable transport to travel to students’ homes
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Confidence tutoring at least one of Maths or English
• Previous tutoring, teaching, coaching or mentoring experience is preferred
