Azure Architect – Job DescriptionRole: Azure ArchitectLocation: MelbourneEmployment Type: ContractRole OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Azure Architect to design and deliver secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud solutions across enterprise environments. The successful candidate will provide architecture leadership across Azure cloud, application modernisation, integration, data, security, networking, and DevOps, working closely with business and technology stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesDefine and implement Azure cloud architecture and solution designs aligned with enterprise architecture standards.Lead cloud migration, modernisation, and transformation initiatives across applications and infrastructure.Design solutions using Azure PaaS, IaaS and serverless services.Develop architecture patterns for highly available, scalable and resilient Azure platforms.Provide technical leadership across Azure networking, security, identity, integration, data and compute.Design and govern Azure landing zones, subscriptions, management groups and resource organisation.Work with engineering teams to implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform/Bicep/ARM.Define CI/CD and DevOps architecture using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub.Establish security controls using Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, Defender for Cloud, Azure Policy and RBAC.Design integration solutions using services such as API Management, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus and Event Grid.Develop cloud solutions leveraging AKS, App Services, Functions, Storage, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB and other Azure services.Ensure solutions meet requirements for security, performance, availability, scalability, disaster recovery and cost optimisation.
Essential Skills & Experience8+ years of experience in solution/cloud architecture, with strong hands-on Azure experience.Strong expertise across Microsoft Azure architecture and cloud-native services.Experience designing enterprise-scale Azure solutions.Strong knowledge of Azure networking, security, identity and governance.Hands-on experience with:Azure API ManagementAzure FunctionsLogic AppsService BusEvent GridAzure Kubernetes Service (AKS)App ServicesAzure Storage / ADLS Gen2Strong Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform and/or Bicep.Strong understanding of CI/CD, DevOps and Git-based development practices.Experience with cloud migration and application modernisation.Strong understanding of microservices, APIs, event-driven architecture and distributed systems.Knowledge of Azure Well-Architected Framework and cloud governance principles.Excellent stakeholder management, communication and documentation skills.
