The City of Fremantle is currently seeking to appoint a Statutory Planning Officer to the City Planning Team. This permanent, full-time role supports statutory planning outcomes by investigating and reporting on statutory planning matters in an effective and efficient manner. The role supports informed decision making by liaising with, and advising, client bodies and the general public on technical and planning related matters. The City is open to considering a part-time role for suitable applicants.
Assess development applications to prepare clear, evidence-based reports and recommendations.
Provide technical planning advice to internal and external stakeholders.
Deliver responsive, customer focused planning services by managing planning enquiries, and providing accurate, timely planning advice.
Prepare documentation and assist the City in review processes, including the State Administrative Tribunal.
Identify opportunities to improve service delivery and coordination across disciplines within the organisation.
To be considered for this position, you will need
Possession of, or working toward, a tertiary qualification in town planning or an equivalent qualification in a related discipline.
Knowledge and understanding of relevant town planning legislation and practices associated with development assessment.
Demonstrated commitment to customer service and the ability to handle customer enquiries in a courteous, sensitive and effective manner.
Sound negotiation, decision making, analytical and research skills.
Sound written and verbal communication skills.
High level of computer literacy and word processing skills.
Demonstrated experience in a local or state government development assessment role is desirable.
