There are some pretty incredible pay rates being advertised for plumbers right now.

And we understand why they’re attractive.

But there’s another side to the story.

As wages and business costs have climbed, the prices customers are being asked to pay for plumbing have climbed too. In some parts of the industry, dramatically.

And ultimately, you’re the plumber standing in the customer’s home presenting that price.

You’re the one explaining what needs to be done. You’re the one presenting the options. And you’re the one dealing with the customer’s reaction when the price is more than they expected.

At AC Plumbing Qld, we want to do things a little differently.

We’re not a budget plumbing company and we’re not trying to be the cheapest plumber in Brisbane.

We need to charge enough to employ great people, provide quality workmanship, buy good equipment, invest in training, stand behind our work and run a healthy business.

But we also believe there needs to be a balance.

Our customers deserve a fair deal. Our plumbers deserve a fair deal. And the business needs to make a fair profit.

We believe you can achieve all three.

Our plumbers still present quotes and options to customers. You’ll need to communicate well, explain your recommendations and confidently ask for the work.

But we don’t want our plumbers relying on high-pressure sales tactics to convince someone that an unreasonable price represents good value.

We’d rather make it easier for customers to say yes by providing great service, quality workmanship and fair, sustainable pricing.

This role won’t suit everyone.

We’re looking for an experienced Maintenance Plumber & Gas Fitter who:

• Has strong morals and believes in treating people fairly

• Takes genuine pride in quality workmanship

• Is hardworking, reliable and takes responsibility for their jobs

• Has strong maintenance plumbing, fault-finding and gas fitting skills

• Treats customers and their homes with respect

• Communicates clearly and professionally

• Can confidently explain solutions, present options and help customers make an informed decision

• Doesn’t need high-pressure sales tactics to get results

• Wants to earn good money, but also cares about providing genuine value

• Wants to go home feeling proud of the work they’ve done

We know there are plumbing jobs being advertised with some enormous hourly rates right now.

We’re not going to pretend we can, or want to, compete with all of them.

We offer $45–$60 per hour + super + bonuses, depending on your experience, technical ability and level of responsibility.

That’s up to $133,000 per year including super, plus bonuses, with a take-home vehicle, monthly RDOs, early-finish Fridays, quarterly team events and regular BBQ breakfasts.

If earning the absolute highest hourly rate available is your number-one priority, we’re probably not the right company for you.

And that’s okay.

But if you want to earn good money, have a life outside of work, work with a good team and feel comfortable with the prices you’re presenting to customers, we think we’ve got something pretty good to offer.
