Ovarian Cancer Australia
About the role
Create real impact by helping grow sustainable fundraising income
Ovarian Cancer Australia (OCA) is the national leader in advocacy providing vital support services for the 1,800 women diagnosed with ovarian cancer and their families each year. The OCA team is comprised of an expert and passionate team of nurses, psychologists, counsellors, advocates and an engagement and philanthropy team, all supported by business services professionals. Together, we deliver free and holistic, expert, evidence-based, specialist support services to women across Australia, and advocate for increased research funding, health systems reform and timely access to better treatment options for women living with ovarian cancer.
About the opportunity
We are seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented fundraising professional to join OCA as our Individual Giving and Philanthropy Officer.
Working closely with the Strategic Fundraising Manager and Philanthropy Manager, this role will contribute to the growth of fundraising income through the delivery of OCA’s individual giving, donor stewardship and philanthropy programs. You will coordinate fundraising activities, strengthen donor engagement and retention, and help develop opportunities to grow the individual and major donor pipeline.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the relaunch and day-to-day delivery of OCA’s regular giving program, including acquisition, conversion, retention, reactivation and upgrades.
Coordinating supporter journeys for regular donors, including onboarding, stewardship, decline management and retention activity.
Maintaining and monitoring the grants pipeline, supporting grant applications, acquittals, documentation and reporting requirements.
Undertaking major donor prospect research using Salesforce and external sources, and maintaining accurate prospect records and profiles.
Coordinating donor stewardship activities, including thank you communications, impact reporting, donor journeys and relationship-building calls.
Coordinating end-to-end delivery and project management of fundraising appeals and newsletters, including briefs, timelines, workflows and supplier coordination.
About you
You bring demonstrated experience in fundraising, philanthropy, marketing or supporter engagement, with an understanding of fundraising principles and the not-for-profit fundraising environment. You are confident communicating with supporters by phone, email and in writing, and you enjoy building positive relationships that strengthen donor engagement and retention.
You have strong written and interpersonal communication skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate campaigns or projects across multiple channels. You are organised, adaptable, data-aware and comfortable managing multiple priorities. Experience using a CRM or donor database, preferably Salesforce, will be highly regarded, along with familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Planner.
