Join our specialist team at North Ryde as an Oncology & Radiation Therapy Nurse Team Leader.
This is a unique opportunity to continue hands-on clinical nursing throughout a patients SASH journey whilst stepping into a meaningful people‑leadership role.
About the Role
As the
Oncology and Radiation Therapy Nurse Team Leader, you will work closely with the Heads of Department and Medical NUM to provide leadership, guidance, and operational oversight for the nursing teams across Oncology and Radiation Therapy departments.
This role is instrumental in fostering a positive and engaged team environment, supporting the growth and development of nursing staff, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and client service are maintained.
You will also contribute to the continuous improvement of the service through the development and implementation of clinical protocols, workflows, and departmental initiatives.
This is a full-time position worked across a four-day week, with responsibilities including:

Leadership and Team Development
Lead, mentor, coach, and support the nursing team, fostering a high-performing culture through training, development, and ongoing performance feedback.

Workforce Planning and Operations
Coordinate team rostering, leave approvals, timesheet management, daily workflow, and procedure scheduling to ensure efficient departmental operations.

Performance and People Management
Monitor team performance and behaviours, support performance and growth reviews, and partner with the NUM on performance management and remuneration discussions where required.

Service Delivery and Hospital Collaboration
Act as a key liaison between Client Services and specialist departments, coordinating consultations, referrals, and initiatives that enhance patient care and service delivery.

Clinical Excellence and Continuous Improvement
Remain actively involved in clinical nursing promoting SASH values, professional standards, and best practices while supporting the implementation of new processes, projects, policies, and departmental initiatives.
Who are we looking for: - Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, with a minimum of 4 years' experience as a qualified Veterinary Nurse.
- Strong interest in Oncology and Radiation Therapy, with a commitment to developing expertise in this specialty area.
- Passion for leadership and team development with demonstrated experience coaching, training and mentoring team members
- Highly organised, with the ability to effectively prioritise and manage competing demands.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm, adaptable, and professional in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams.
