The Role

We are seeking an experienced and multi-skilled Mines Assistant to join our P49 Department. Reporting to the P49 Supervisor, you will be responsible for supporting frontline development operators to safely and efficiently achieve the mine plan.

This is a residential position operating on a 7/7 continuous day and night roster, allowing you to return home each day and enjoy the lifestyle that Mount Isa has to offer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Operating loadersChargingOff-siding frontline Jumbo OperatorsIdentifying opportunities to improve work practices and conditionsIdentifying safety and cost-saving initiativesDelivering personnel and equipment to job sites and returning surplus equipment to storesSupporting the P49 Operations team in achieving budgeted KPIs by performing all required roles within the teamContributing positively to the team environment while operating safely and supporting the delivery of production targets within budget

The successful candidate will possess:

A minimum of three years' experience and sound knowledge of underground mining operationsA current Australian manual driver's licenceAn Elphinstone 1700/2900 or Sandvik 514/517 loader ticket, or equivalent competencyDevelopment jumbo operating experience highly regardedDemonstrated knowledge of risk management, safety systems and legislative requirements relevant to underground miningStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsA flexible and adaptable approach, with a high level of attention to detailA proven history of reliability and punctuality, with a strong commitment to safetyA willingness to learn and develop new skillsThe ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team environmentThe ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening
