THE ROLE

Reporting to the People and Culture Manager, the Business Partner (People and Culture) is a newly created role providing practical HR business partnering and WHS support across GCPHN. Working closely with leaders and employees, the role will support effective people practices, employee relations, workforce planning, policy implementation, HR/WHS systems and process improvement. This role will make a meaningful contribution to GCPHN’s people, culture and workplace experience.

ABOUT YOU

Working in a purpose-led organisation, your contribution will help strengthen people, culture and safety practices and support GCPHN to deliver its strategic priorities for the Gold Coast community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• HR business partnering: Provide timely, practical HR advice and support to leaders and employees, promoting sound decision-making and consistent application of legislation, industrial instruments, policies and procedures.
• Work health and safety: Support WHS programs, including risk management, psychosocial hazard awareness, incident reporting, injury management, workers’ compensation administration, and return-to-work processes.
• Talent acquisition: Coordinate recruitment, selection and onboarding processes, ensuring accurate records, timely appointments, a positive candidate experience and effective induction.
• Culture, engagement and improvement: Support initiatives that foster a positive, inclusive and high-performing culture, strengthen employee experience and promote wellbeing, collaboration and practical improvement.
• Workforce planning and organisational development: Help identify capability needs and support workforce planning, succession planning, learning and development initiatives.
• Employee relations and performance: Provide advice and case-management support for performance, conduct, attendance, workplace conflict and other employee relations matters, ensuring confidentiality, procedural fairness, accurate records and timely escalation.
• Policy and compliance: Support the development, review, implementation and communication of People and Culture and WHS policies, procedures and practices, promoting consistent compliance.
• Employee lifecycle administration: Support accurate and timely employment documentation, variations, onboarding, offboarding and employee record management across the employee lifecycle.
• Reporting, systems and analytics: Maintain accurate employee and workforce data, prepare HR/WHS reports and analyse trends to support workforce planning, compliance, risk management and process improvement.

SELECTION CRITERIA – ESSENTIAL

• Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Demonstrated experience of at least two years in an HR generalist role, including employee relations, performance management, WHS matters and practical process improvements.
• Sound knowledge of, and ability to interpret and apply, the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), National Employment Standards, modern awards, employment legislation and relevant Queensland workplace obligations.
• High level of attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, quality and consistency in all aspects of work.
• Experience supporting confidential employee relations case work, including grievances, workplace investigations, conflict resolution and conduct matters.
• Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, workforce planning, learning and development, and employee engagement initiatives.
• Well-developed analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess information, identify risks and recommend practical solutions.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear advice and build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, exercise sound judgement and work independently and collaboratively within approved delegations.
• Competent digital literacy skills, including proficiency using Microsoft Office applications and HR/WHS systems to manage information, prepare reports and support accurate, efficient administration.

SELECTION CRITERIA – HIGHLY DESIRABLE

• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety.
• Experience using Employment Hero or a similar HRIS to support employee records, workflows and reporting.
• Practical experience supporting WHS programs, workers’ compensation and return-to-work processes.
• Experience within a Primary Health Network, not-for-profit, health, community services or government-funded organisation.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

• Valid Australian working rights.
• The successful candidate will be required to undergo a valid National Police Certificate check.

WHAT WE OFFER

• Remuneration package of $92,586 to $117,137 plus superannuation, commensurate with experience.
• Corporate office-based role with flexible work arrangements, subject to operational requirements.
• Salary packaging benefits of up to $15,900 p.a., plus up to $2,650 p.a. for meals and entertainment.
