About the role
Compassionate Community Care is a growing, values-driven NDIS registered provider delivering person-centred disability supports across Cairns and Far North Queensland. As a Disability Support Worker, you will provide assistance across Supported Independent Living (SIL), Community Access and individual participant supports. You will support people who genuinely enjoy supporting others while promoting independence, dignity, choice and control.
Key responsibilities
Supporting participants within Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes
Providing Community Access and social participation supports
Assisting participants with activities of daily living and personal care
Supporting participants to develop and maintain independence and daily living skills
Transporting and supporting participants to appointments, activities and community events
Assisting with meal preparation, household tasks and daily routines
Supporting participants to achieve their individual NDIS goals
Following participant support plans, Behaviour Support Plans and risk management strategies
Supporting participants with medication in accordance with organisational policies and individual requirements
Completing accurate progress notes and required documentation
About you
Previous experience within the NDIS, disability, mental health, aged care or community services sector
A good understanding of person-centred support, dignity, choice and control
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Reliability and the ability to attend rostered shifts consistently
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Professional boundaries and respect for participant confidentiality
Confidence supporting participants with varying and potentially complex support needs
Ability to follow support plans, policies, procedures and management direction
Good written skills for completing progress notes and incident documentation
Flexibility to work across a 24/7 roster, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, public holidays and sleepover/active overnight shifts where required
Employment Requirements
NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
Working with Children Check / Blue Card, where applicable
Current First Aid and CPR certification
Current Australian Driver Licence
Reliable access to transport
Current Australian working rights
Relevant NDIS Worker Orientation and mandatory training requirements
Qualifications & Experience
A relevant qualification such as a Certificate III or Certificate IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services, Mental Health or a related field will be highly regarded. Applicants with demonstrated disability and NDIS experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
