What you’ll do
• Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture.
• Production & Quality: Produce high-quality sand moulds and cores using appropriate equipment and trade skills, ensuring daily production targets are met efficiently and safely.
• Equipment Operation: Operate overhead cranes, forklifts (if licensed), sand mixers, process equipment, portable tools, and hand tools with precision and care.
• Safety & Compliance: Actively participate in safety initiatives, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and pre-start inspections; adhere strictly to all WMA policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Team Collaboration & Mentoring: Support and mentor apprentices or machine moulders, fostering a collaborative and skilled team environment.
• Inventory & Maintenance: Conduct stock takes of indirect materials, reorder supplies timely to prevent shortages, and ensure work areas and equipment are maintained in good order.
• Success Indicators: Success will be demonstrated by consistent achievement of production targets, adherence to safety standards, quality output, and effective teamwork.
What you’ll bring
Must-haves:
• Experience of at least 12 months in a manufacturing environment, preferably but not essential working with chemical set sand moulding, cold box moulding, or greensand moulding.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and correspondence; effective communication skills in one-on-one and small group settings.
• Strong practical skills with hand tools and equipment operation, including overhead cranes and forklifts (tickets desirable).
• Commitment to safety, quality, and productivity standards with a dependable and proactive work ethic.
Nice-to-haves:
• High Risk Work Licence (Class F NSW) and Dogging Certificate.
• Prior experience in stock management and calibration of sand mixers.
• Familiarity with risk assessments and safety compliance procedures.
