Apprentice Fitter & Turner

Digga Australia specialise in the manufacturing of machinery attachments for the construction and earthmoving industry and have an exciting opportunity for a Fitter & Turner Apprentice within our Machine Shop. The right candidate will be a mechanically minded person who enjoys hands-on work, solving technical problems, and learning from experienced tradespeople while working towards a nationally recognised qualification. If you enjoy figuring out how things work, are motivated and aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty then we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in on-the-job and onsite vocational training
• Learn precision machining techniques
• Use workshop tools, machinery and specialised equipment
• Prepare raw materials for processing
• Operate gear cutting machines
• Press (hand press) housings and other materials
• Build skills that will set you up for a long term career in engineering

What skills does it take to successfully complete a Fitter and Turner Apprenticeship?

• Sound maths skills and spatial awareness
• Mechanical comprehension
• Solid hand-eye coordination
• Care and precision when taking measurements
• Excellent manual dexterity and the ability to precisely measure and cut
• Strong problem-solving skills
• An ability to follow directions
• Effective communication skills
