The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) and Melbourne Water are seeking passionate individuals to join our dynamic team of Ongoing and Seasonal Forest and Fire Operations Officer (FFOOs). Get ready to immerse yourself in thrilling fire management activities across Victoria's breathtaking National Parks, State Forests and Protected Public Land. But that's not all! You'll also have the opportunity to support other emergency responses, including flood and storm incidents.
As a member of Forest Fire Management Victoria, located at over 76 workcentres throughout Victoria, you'll play a crucial role in safeguarding our precious natural landscapes. You'll collaborate with dedicated departmental personnel, skilled contractors and fellow FFOOs, creating lasting connections within our close-knit community. Every day you'll face new challenges, exercise your problem-solving skills and make impactful decisions, all while enjoying the camaraderie of a fantastic team.

What you need to join us:
When you become part of our team, you'll attend a minimum 2-week training camp to equip you with the skills you'll need. Upon successful completion, you'll earn the General Firefighter accreditation – a true badge of honour!
Seasonal positions are fixed term, available for a minimum of 22 weeks, typically spanning October to May, with various locations available throughout Victoria.
Ongoing employment is all year round with limited vacancies available.
Please note: Ongoing employment is not available at Melbourne Water locations.
You'll have the chance to explore and protect stunning landscapes whilst earning a competitive salary ranging from $56,044 to $65,221 per annum, plus superannuation.

Preferred candidates will be required to undertake pre-employment screening, including a Declaration and Consent form, National Police Check and meet the medical and fitness requirements.
