About the job

The SAS Cloud and Information Services team is looking for a Technical Architect for the SAS Cloud team in SAS’s Cloud and Information Services (CIS) division. You will be responsible for all aspects of our data management systems in SAS Cloud.

You will be coming into a new and biggest growth area in SAS globally. You will have the chance to help shape how we work in the region while working for a variety of customers day-to-day.

As a Technical Architect in SAS Cloud, you will focus on the underlying SAS technology core and specialize in specific technical issues such as security, data management, system integration, user interface. Assist the pre-sales and business development teams with technical sales activities to maximize revenue opportunities and ensure the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

As a SAS Cloud Technical Architect, you will:

• Analyze all information gathered during the sales cycle to provide technical requirements and, working collaboratively with the delivery technical lead or delivery technical architect, translate the sales technical vision into a detailed technical implementation proposal.
• Scope and define work effort, support resource planning, and estimate cost on technical aspects of the project. Conduct project requirements gathering.
• Deliver standard and/or customized software demonstrations and presentations outlining the technical features, competitive advantages, and business benefits of the SAS software as they apply to client needs.
• Build a trusted relationship with the Account Executive and client account to provide practical guidance in the functional and technical aspects of proposed software and set proper expectations to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Provide reliable delivery of targeted project results through the role as an expert in the application of specific SAS methodologies, projects, and technologies.
• Leverage detailed technical knowledge to support sales opportunities and implementations across solution domains.
• Perform advanced or complex prototyping for SAS foundation technologies as needed.
• Install SAS software solutions and any required supporting products for knowledge sharing and demonstration purposes as assigned.
• Conduct pre-sales implementations to prove functional capabilities, including on-site support as required.
• Assist in the response to RFI/RFPs by utilizing the RFP Repository and crafting thorough and compelling answers.
• Strategize with the sales team to provide functional and technical leadership for sales opportunities.
• Look for opportunities to expand a tactical service into something strategic for SAS and the client, utilizing SAS Technical Support to facilitate responses to issues that may impact a sales opportunity.
• Understand, utilize, and communicate best practice methodologies and industry standards internally and externally.
• Provide support for user group events and trade shows.
• Work proactively with Systems Engineers for the purpose of cross-training and knowledge transfer.
• Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals.

Additional Responsibilities

• Participate in the design process.
• Able to install/configure SAS solutions and products
• Produce excellent customer documentation
• Interact with Technical Support to verify and discuss issues around specific architectures at client sites

Additional competencies, knowledge and skills (good to have)

• Knowledge of programming languages, operating systems, utilities, services, and editors for assigned area
• Technical knowledge of the internal workings, diagnostic tools, and features of complex systems
• Aptitude for visualization of solutions for complex problems
• Azure, AWS, SAS Certifications

Required Qualifications

• Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required for this role
• 5+ years of system engineering, project management, applications development, technical architecture and design and/or customer support.
• Strong facilitation and communications skills
• Must have good knowledge of industry standards, methodologies and SAS foundation technologies, architecture and resources
• Should have clear understanding of  Cloud Architecture concepts and best practices.
• Must understand sales strategies and cycles
• Good problem-solving, organizational, decision-making written, oral and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
