About the role
We are seeking to establish a pool of Lead Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
The role of the Education Assistant - Lead is to lead, mentor, coach, and model good practices for other Education Assistants. You will be an important and valued leader, you will assist in supporting the team in leading, growing and managing the Education Assistant workforce. The successful applicant should operate collaboratively with all staff and be able to build and maintain effective team-based relationships. We value individuals who are highly professional, organised and display excellent communication skills, in line with the Department of Education’s Code of Conduct, drawing on these attributes when working with staff and the school community.
The Education Assistant - Lead contributes to the design and implementation of documented plans and provide solutions and support to education assistants and teachers, which promote positive student behaviour and improved educational outcomes in the classroom. It is highly desirable for applicants to have experience in working with students with a range of learning needs and disabilities including complex communication needs, complex medical needs and challenging behaviours. At Ocean Reef SHS, Lead Education Assistant (EA) roles are established across several key portfolios, including our COVE PBS program, intervention, operations, and specialist learning programs. These roles provide an important layer of leadership, coordination and support within each portfolio, helping to strengthen consistency, collaboration and the effective delivery of programs and services.

A CV of up to three (3) pages outlining your employment history and professional learning summary relevant to this position; and A three (3) page statement addressing the selection criteria as outlined in the attached JDF:Demonstrated considerable knowledge and understanding of the delivery of education programs and/or behaviour management plans; and ability to identify problems and assist teachers and other Education Assistants in the development of strategies and solutions. Demonstrated well developed oral communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, mentor, coach, induct and train other Education Assistants and professional teams, including providing advice and evaluating education programs. Demonstrated well developed written communication skills, including report writing, and the ability to coordinate, collect and present student data at a whole school community level in a meaningful way. Demonstrated well developed organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate staff rosters and relief to assist in the delivery of effective education programs.
