Business Improvement Officer

Laynhapuy Homelands Aboriginal Corporation (Laynha) is looking for a Business Improvement Officer to help us turn systems and processes into better ways of working. You’ll work across Finance, HR, Grants, Compliance and service delivery to improve the way we use our systems and develop practical solutions that make people’s jobs easier.

This is a 12-month role, based in Yirrkala at the Laynha Resource Centre.

About Us

For more than 40 years, Laynha has supported Yolŋu people living across approximately 30 homelands in East Arnhem Land.

Through our employment and community programs, we work alongside Yolŋu people and communities to create opportunities for skills development, employment and greater economic participation.

About the Role

You’ll take complex or inconsistent processes and turn them into clear, practical and sustainable ways of working. We are looking for someone to:   

• Identify operational pain points, duplication and inefficiencies across the organisation
• Map existing processes and work with teams to understand what’s really happening day-to-day
• Design and implement simpler, more consistent and efficient workflows
• Develop practical SOPs, templates, checklists, guides and tools
• Look for opportunities to automate routine tasks and improve systemisation
• Help optimise the use of systems including Employment Hero, Xero, LogiQc, Urbanise and DoneSafe
• Work with staff to implement changes and build confidence in new processes and systems
• Develop training and reference materials that make new ways of working easy to understand
• Review policies, procedures and controls to ensure they are practical, clear and embedded in everyday work
• Make sure improvements are documented and sustainable beyond the initial implementation

You’ll bring:

• 3+ years’ experience in business analysis, business improvement, process improvement or a similar role
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience mapping and documenting processes
• Experience developing procedures, guides, templates or training materials
• Experience implementing or improving business systems and software
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and get things done
• A collaborative and approachable style, with the confidence to work across different teams and levels of the organisation
• High personal integrity and a commitment to confidentiality and ethical behaviour
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism and Laynha’s values and objectives
• A current open manual driver’s licence.
• A current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or ability to obtain)
