About the role

Boyes Constructions is seeking a Carpentry Apprentice to join our dynamic team in Canberra. This is an exciting full-time opportunity to begin your career in the skilled trades, working alongside experienced carpenters and craftspeople in a supportive learning environment. As a Carpentry Apprentice, you will develop practical skills in carpentry and cabinet making whilst contributing to quality construction and custom carpentry projects. This role offers the perfect foundation for a rewarding career in the construction industry, combining hands-on training with recognised qualifications.

What you'll be doing

• Assisting experienced carpenters with site preparation, measuring and marking materials for cutting and shaping

• Learning to use hand tools and power tools safely and correctly under supervision

• Maintaining a clean and organised work environment, following health and safety protocols at all times

• Supporting the team with material handling, tool organisation and general site duties

• Attending on-the-job training and relevant apprenticeship courses as required by your training provider

What we're looking for

• A genuine interest in carpentry and a desire to develop practical skills in the construction industry

• A strong work ethic, reliability and a willingness to learn from experienced mentors

• Good physical fitness and the ability to perform manual labour, including working at heights where necessary

• Attention to detail and an appreciation for quality workmanship and precision

• Basic numeracy and literacy skills to support your apprenticeship training

• A commitment to health and safety practices on construction sites

• Relevant qualifications or enrolment in a recognised carpentry apprenticeship programme

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team

• A positive attitude and enthusiasm for developing a career in the skilled trades
