Commercial Manager

About the role

The Commercial Manager is responsible for the commercial performance of our projects from tender pricing through delivery, variation recovery and final project outcomes. The role works across estimating, project delivery and finance to ensure commercial decisions are clear, challenged and aligned to project performance. The role also develops project performance analytics and prepares clear project commentary to support stronger commercial outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Partner on supplier pricing and challenge tender cost assumptions

• Test commercial tender risks and provide clear commercial assumptions handover

• Track project margin delivery and monitor cost movement trends

• Identify efficiencies, savings and develop project performance analytics

• Identify cost increases early and recoverable project variations

• Support variation pricing recovery and escalate margin recovery risks

• Prepare project commentary and improve live margin visibility

• Report risks, savings and recovery to support stronger margin forecasting

About you

• Quantity Surveyor experience preferred, ideally in civil construction or related industries

• Demonstrated commercial, project controls, finance or estimating experience

• Strong understanding of tender pricing, project budgets, margin tracking and cost control

• Experience reviewing cost movements, savings and recoverable variations with Project Managers

• Ability to develop project performance analytics and clear commercial commentary

• Confident using ERP systems, reporting tools and Microsoft Excel

• Strong communication, stakeholder management and commercial judgement
