Senior Interior Designer

The Role

As Senior Interior Designer, you'll lead briefing on your own projects. You'll ask the questions that surface what a client hasn't said, not just what they have. You'll carry that concept narrative end-to-end, so the thinking that wins the pitch is still recognisable in the finished space.

You'll help set the standards the rest of the studio measures itself against. You'll drive documentation that's buildable, compliant and true to design intent. You'll keep projects on budget and ahead of financial risk, before it becomes anyone else's problem. You'll lead client presentations where the storytelling does as much work as the drawings. You'll build the kind of project relationships that turn into the next referral and the next fee proposal. And you'll coach the designers coming up behind you, setting the quality bar for their client-facing work as much as your own.

It's a role built for someone ready to move from a strong individual contributor to studio leadership. You'll have real influence over design direction, client relationships, and the next generation of designers at GV.

You Will

• Lead briefing and own the concept narrative for your projects from first conversation to final documentation
• Drive the quality and coordination of documentation so what gets built matches what was designed
• Own project financials; tracking budget and team time, and escalating risk early rather than late
• Lead client presentations and build the relationships that generate referrals and future work
• Coach and mentor emerging designers and set the benchmark for client-facing design and technology across the team
• Lead safety in design and embed it as part of how you design, not an add-on to it

Who We Are Looking For

This role will suit someone highly experienced in commercial interior design, who can work flexibly and is committed to continual growth and improvement.  

• Degree qualified in Interior Design, Architecture or similar. We look favourably on candidates who are Green Star Accredited Professionals.
• 8+ years design experience, ideally in interior design and workplace.
• 2-4 years leadership experience.
• Strong design visualisation skills including sketching, hand drawing as well as fluency in Revit and Adobe graphics programs.
• A strong conceptual designer who can produce compelling sketch plans and articulate design narratives.
