Senior Finance Officer

The Shire of Exmouth is seeking an experienced and motivated part-time Senior Finance Officer to support the delivery of high-quality financial services across the organisation in an on-site or remote capacity.

Reporting to the Manager Finance Services, this hands-on role supports and coordinates the Shire’s day-to-day finance functions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable while providing broader accounting and financial reporting support.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving and working across all areas of finance. You’ll play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting monthly and annual reporting, assisting with budget reviews and ensuring the Shire continues to meet its financial and statutory obligations.

From preparing reconciliations and financial reports to supporting internal teams with their financial responsibilities, you’ll help maintain strong financial controls, efficient processes and reliable financial information across the organisation.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who is organised, capable and detail-focused, with strong financial knowledge and a practical, hands-on approach.

You’ll be comfortable managing competing priorities, working across different finance functions and maintaining a high level of accuracy and confidentiality. You’ll enjoy working collaboratively, supporting others and identifying opportunities to improve financial systems and processes. Experience in local government or a similarly regulated environment will be highly regarded.

What we offer: This position is classified as a Level 8 under the Shire of Exmouth Industrial Agreement 2025 and comes with the following remuneration benefits:

• Annual base salary $54,561.31 per annum (0.6 FTE)

• Up to 22% superannuation (includes co-contribution by you)

• Location allowance of $2,002 per annum (pro-rata part-time)

• Housing allowance of $5,000 per annum (pro-rata part-time)

• 5 weeks annual leave (pro-rata)

• Eligibility for long service leave after 7 years of service (conditions apply), uniform allowance, employee assistance program and other well-being services

Remote working arrangements may be considered for a suitable candidate. Where an employee is approved to work remotely outside Exmouth, the Shire’s location and housing allowances will not apply.
