MEDICAL SCIENTIST (CORE LAB)

HOBART PATHOLOGY 

Status:                  Full time (37.5 hours per week)

Department:       Biochemistry

About The Role:

• Analysis, interpretation and reporting results in all areas of biochemistry 

• Participation in Haematology and Transfusion will be required

• Startup, maintenance and troubleshooting of all analysers

• Interpretation and review of QC and QA samples

• Timely provision of results to clients and medical practitioners 

• Administrative duties including answering phone calls, scanning, faxing, filing as directed

• Cleaning duties and compliance with WHS standards in a modern laboratory

• Rostered hours will include day shifts, evenings, weekends and public holidays

• The hours will vary to meet the operational & organisational requirements and may require participation in the 24/7 roster.

Selection Criteria             

1. Appropriately qualified with a Degree in Applied Science (MLS), Biomedical Science or recognised equivalent.

2. Ability to act independently and within established guidelines, demonstrating initiative, flexibility and sound judgement

3. A keen eye for detail and exceptional accuracy in data transfer operations

4. High level of computer literacy and ability to learn new laboratory information systems

5. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with an understanding of quality control and quality assurance

6. Experience in Protein Electrophoresis in a pathology setting will be considered a distinct advantage

7. Commitment to continuing professional development, education and training

8. Must be able to live and work in Australia on a permanent basis at the time of application
