Financial Accountant

We’re looking for a motivated Financial Accountant to join our Accounting Services team at KeyInvest.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, you’ll be part of a collaborative Finance team and take ownership of a diverse range of accounting, reconciliation, reporting and analysis activities. This is a great opportunity for an accountant who has established their foundations and is ready to broaden their experience in a financial services environment.

About the role

A key focus of the position is preparing accurate monthly management accounts and providing meaningful financial information to support the business. You’ll also gain exposure to investment accounting, statutory accounts, regulatory reporting and internal and external audit.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing monthly management accounts, including P&L, Balance Sheet and variance analysis
• Completing balance sheet and other account reconciliations
• Preparing accruals and adjustment journals
• Analysing accounting data and financial reports and identifying opportunities to improve reporting
• Calculating and reconciling investment-related movements, including earnings, dividends, income distributions, unrealised market movements and trading results
• Preparing investment portfolio reports and annual fee calculations for Benefit Funds
• Assisting with year-end statutory accounts and working with internal and external auditors
• Preparing BAS, FBT and GST reporting
• Supporting capital adequacy reporting and APRA and ABS returns
• Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register
• Providing regular and ad hoc financial support to management and other areas of the business
• Contributing to operational and strategic projects across KeyInvest.

About you

You’re a detail-oriented accountant with strong numerical and analytical skills who enjoys understanding the story behind the numbers, not simply producing them.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• A degree in Accounting, Commerce or a related discipline
• At least 2 years’ experience in an accounting role or public practice
• Experience in financial services
• CPA, CA or another relevant postgraduate qualification, or be working towards one
• Intermediate or above Excel skills
• Strong attention to detail and sound analytical capability
• The ability to manage your responsibilities independently while working collaboratively as part of a team
• Good communication skills and confidence working with stakeholders across different levels of an organisation.
