Forklift Operator

Hannay Douglas is a Brisbane-based exporter of fresh fruit and vegetables, operating out of Rocklea. We ship quality produce to international markets and take pride in running a reliable, professional operation.

We are looking for an experienced and reliable Forklift Operator to join our team at our Rocklea site on a casual basis.

Our operations are influenced by seasonal demand, so hours will vary from week to week. The role generally involves 6:00am starts, with work primarily Monday to Friday and potential weekend work as required. We’re looking for someone who is flexible, dependable and comfortable with varied and sometimes ad hoc scheduling.

About the role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Safely operating counterbalance forklifts within the warehouse and cold room environment.

• Loading and unloading trucks safely and efficiently.

• Moving freight, containers, product and other materials around the site.

• Picking product for customer orders and accurately following pick sheets.

• Assisting with packing product according to order, product and destination requirements.

• Completing daily forklift pre-start checks.

• Completing required paperwork and documentation accurately.

• Keeping work areas clean, organised and safe.

• Wearing appropriate safety clothing and PPE.

• Following all site safety procedures, operational requirements and company policies.

• Taking a proactive approach to workplace health, safety, wellbeing and the environment.

• Assisting with manual handling and general warehouse and yard duties as required

• About you

To be successful in this role, you will:

• Hold a current LF Forklift Licence.

• Have previous forklift operating experience, ideally operating counterbalance forklifts.

• Be available Monday to Friday and potentially weekends, with flexibility around finish times and hours worked.

• Understand that hours will vary week to week in line with operational requirements.

• Have reliable transport to and from our Rocklea site.

• Be comfortable working in both warehouse and cold room environments.

• Be physically fit and comfortable undertaking manual handling and repetitive tasks.

• Be able to read and follow pick sheets and instructions accurately.

• Have a strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

• Be reliable, punctual and have a strong attendance record.

• Have a positive attitude and strong work ethic.

• Work well as part of a team while also being able to take direction.

• Be willing to learn and assist across different areas of the operation as required.

• Previous experience working in an export, fresh produce environment would be highly regarded.
