About the role
Join a collaborative research team contributing to nationally significant NHMRC‑funded work on improving diagnostics and genotyping for Strongyloides stercoralis. This role offers hands‑on laboratory experience and the opportunity to support impactful tropical health research.
As a Research Worker, you’ll provide essential operational and laboratory support to ensure project milestones are delivered efficiently and to a high standard. You’ll work closely with senior researchers, assist with project coordination, and support PhD and Master’s students as needed.
You’ll undertake a variety of laboratory tasks, including culture, microscopy, faecal concentration techniques, DNA extraction, PCR, electrophoresis, specimen reception and management. The role also includes placing purchase orders, managing inventory and reagent stocks, and supporting research administration and reporting.
We’re looking for someone with strong organisational skills, attention to detail, confidence working in a laboratory environment, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary research team.
