Product Designer

Betashares Direct is helping Australians build long-term wealth through a simple, trusted investing experience. We’re looking for a Product Designer who is curious, hands-on and energised by turning customer problems into well-crafted digital experiences across our app and web platforms. 

You’ll own defined product problems from discovery through to delivery, partnering closely with product managers, engineers, researchers and designers to understand customer needs, explore and test solutions, and ship experiences that improve the product. You’ll combine strong UX/UI craft with product thinking, using research, product data and emerging tools—including AI-assisted workflows—to improve both customer outcomes and the way you work. 

Role Responsibilities 

• Own defined product problems from discovery through to shipped experiences across app and web. 
• Partner with product managers, engineers and researchers to shape problems, explore solutions and contribute to scope, priorities, success measures and trade-offs. 
• Design connected customer experiences across mobile, desktop and responsive contexts using strong interaction and visual design principles. 
• Create user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity designs and interactive prototypes at the appropriate level of fidelity for each problem. 
• Test ideas with customers early and use research, feedback and product data to guide iteration and measure impact. 
• Balance customer needs, design quality, accessibility, technical constraints, scope and delivery pace to achieve practical outcomes. 
• Apply and contribute to the design system, identifying gaps and improving reusable patterns as the product evolves. 
• Participate actively in design critiques and cross-functional reviews and follow up after launch to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. 

Key skills and experience  

Must-haves 

• Around 3–5 years’ professional product design experience, or equivalent capability demonstrated through the quality and scope of your work. 
• Experience shipping digital products, features or customer journeys within a cross-functional product team. 
• A portfolio demonstrating strong problem-solving, product thinking and UX/UI craft. 
• Strong foundations in interaction design, user flows, information architecture, visual hierarchy and accessible interface design. 
• Experience creating wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs for mobile apps, responsive web products or both. 
• Confidence collaborating with product managers, engineers, researchers and other stakeholders, including communicating design decisions and responding constructively to feedback. 

Nice-to-haves 

• Experience applying or contributing to a design system or shared component library. 
• Proficiency in Figma and familiarity with modern prototyping tools. 
• Curiosity about AI-assisted design workflows and emerging tools for ideation, prototyping or improving design workflows. 
• An interest in investing and helping customers build long-term wealth. 
• Previous experience in fintech, banking or financial services.
