About the role
Preston, VIC | Full-Time | Company Vehicle and Mobile Phone Provided
A well-established national cleaning and facility services company is seeking an experienced Contract Manager to oversee the day-to-day performance of a diverse portfolio of commercial cleaning contracts.
This client-facing role is responsible for ensuring consistent service delivery, strong client relationships, effective team leadership and compliance with all contractual requirements.
You will work closely with clients, cleaners, Supervisors, Team Leaders and internal Operations and Business Support teams to ensure every contract is properly resourced, managed and delivered.
This is not a desk-based management position. We are looking for a visible, hands-on leader who takes ownership, regularly attends sites and works alongside their teams to resolve operational issues.
The successful candidate will lead by example, provide practical coaching and support, and follow every issue through to completion. You must be willing to step in when required, understand what is happening on the ground and focus on delivering solutions—not simply delegating responsibility.
You will be supported by an established Business Support Team that assists with contract administration, documentation, reporting, work orders and system updates. This allows you to focus on leading your teams, supporting clients and maintaining strong operational performance.
Manage the daily operations and overall performance of assigned cleaning contracts.
Maintain a regular and visible presence across all assigned sites.
Build strong relationships with clients and act as their primary operational contact.
Conduct regular client meetings, contract reviews and site walk-throughs.
Complete site inspections and service audits, ensuring identified issues are followed through to completion.
Lead, coach and hold Supervisors, Team Leaders and cleaning staff accountable for performance.
Work alongside onsite teams and provide practical support when operational issues arise.
Recruit, onboard, train and develop cleaning teams.
Coordinate the setup and mobilisation of new contracts, including staffing, equipment, chemicals, rosters, documentation and training.
Monitor staffing levels, attendance, productivity and service quality across all sites.
Manage periodical cleaning programs and ensure all scheduled works are completed on time and to the required standard.
Coordinate reactive, emergency and additional works, including labour, equipment and client approvals.
Respond promptly to complaints and service issues, implement corrective actions and communicate outcomes to clients.
Review contract performance, labour hours, budgets and operational reporting.
Ensure employees comply with company procedures, safety requirements, site expectations and contractual obligations.
Participate in an on-call roster and support clients with urgent operational matters when required.
You will be a confident, organised and proactive leader with proven experience managing multiple sites, clients and operational priorities.
You take ownership, lead from the front and are comfortable moving between client meetings, site inspections, team coaching and urgent operational matters.
The successful candidate will have:
Previous experience managing commercial cleaning, facility services or other multi-site service contracts.
Strong experience leading frontline employees, Supervisors and Team Leaders.
A genuinely hands-on leadership style and willingness to assist onsite when required.
Proven ability to manage client relationships and resolve service issues professionally.
Experience conducting audits, inspections and quality assurance reviews.
Strong planning, time-management and problem-solving skills.
The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety, employee compliance and service-delivery standards.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Confidence using operational systems, mobile applications and Microsoft Office.
A current Australian driver’s licence.
The ability to participate in an on-call roster.
Flexibility to attend sites outside standard hours when operationally required.
A secure, full-time position with an established national cleaning and facility services company.
A fully maintained company vehicle and mobile phone.
Dedicated support from experienced Operations and Business Support teams.
Ownership of a diverse portfolio of commercial cleaning contracts.
The autonomy to manage your portfolio while remaining actively involved across your sites.
The opportunity to build capable teams and lasting client relationships.
Genuine responsibility, professional autonomy and opportunities for career progression.
If you are an experienced Contract Manager who takes pride in leading from the front, developing teams, building strong client relationships and delivering consistently high service standards, we would like to hear from you.
