About the role
We are seeking a skilled Microbiologist - Agriculture to join our team on a part-time (10 hours / week) basis at our Landsdale, WA facility. In this role, you will play a crucial part in testing, developing and optimising microbiological products and solutions. Your work will directly contribute to enhancing soil health, crop performance, and farm productivity across diverse agricultural applications. This position offers the opportunity to apply your microbiological expertise to real-world agricultural challenges whilst working with a passionate team dedicated to innovation in the farming sector.
Key responsibilities
Conduct microbiological research and analysis to support the development and optimisation of agricultural products and formulations
Isolate, culture, and characterise beneficial microorganisms relevant to soil health and crop nutrition
Perform quality control and quality assurance testing on microbiological products to ensure consistency, viability, and efficacy
Design and execute laboratory experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of microbial solutions in agricultural applications
Document and analyse experimental data, maintaining detailed laboratory records and reports
Collaborate with agronomists, researchers, and product development teams to translate microbiological findings into practical agricultural solutions
Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards
Stay current with developments in agricultural microbiology and recommend improvements to existing processes and products
About you
Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Agricultural Microbiology, Soil Science, or a related scientific discipline; Master's degree is advantageous
Proven experience working in microbiology, with particular interest or experience in agricultural applications, soil microbiology, or beneficial microorganisms
Strong practical laboratory skills including culturing techniques, microscopy, staining procedures, and microbial identification methods
Proficiency in using laboratory equipment such as autoclaves, incubators, spectrophotometers, and microscopes
Experience with microbial analysis, testing, and quality control procedures
Knowledge of microbial taxonomy, physiology, and ecology, particularly as it relates to agricultural systems
Excellent attention to detail and strong data recording and analysis capabilities
Ability to work independently
Strong written and verbal communication skills
