Leading Hand Plumber

About the role

MS Civil is seeking an experienced Leading Hand Plumber to join our team in Hobart, TAS. This is a full-time position that offers a fantastic opportunity to take on a supervisory and technical leadership role within our plumbing operations. As a Leading Hand Plumber, you will be responsible for overseeing plumbing projects, managing teams, and ensuring the highest standards of workmanship and safety on site. This position is integral to our business operations and offers the chance to develop your career in a leadership capacity whilst maintaining your hands-on plumbing expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate plumbing teams on residential, commercial, and industrial projects

• Plan and schedule plumbing work, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget

• Conduct quality inspections of plumbing installations and repairs to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations

• Mentor and train junior plumbers and apprentices, providing guidance on best practices and technical skills

• Liaise with project managers, clients, and other trades to ensure effective communication and project coordination

• Identify potential issues on site and implement solutions promptly to minimise delays

• Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and time spent on projects

• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and implement safe working practices across all projects

• Order materials and equipment as required for upcoming projects

• Perform complex plumbing work including installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems

What we're looking for

• A current plumbing qualification or apprenticeship completion with several years of hands-on plumbing experience

• Proven experience in a supervisory or leading hand capacity within the plumbing or construction industry

• Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations, and industry standards applicable in Tasmania

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage and motivate teams effectively

• Proficiency in reading and interpreting plumbing plans and technical drawings

• A demonstrated commitment to health and safety practices on construction sites

• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment

• Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements

• A current driver's licence and willingness to travel to various project sites within the Hobart area

• Experience with project management software or scheduling tools is desirable
