Yardsperson/ Forklift Operator

ACT Steelworks is seeking a reliable and motivated Yardsperson to join our team. This is a hands-on role responsible for keeping our workshop and yard organised, safe, and operating efficiently.

You will play a key part in the day-to-day movement of materials, loading and unloading vehicles, maintaining stock locations, and supporting workshop operations. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail, and can stay organised in a busy environment.

Reporting to the Logistics Coordinator & Workshop Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Loading and unloading trucks and company vehicles.

• Operating a forklift to move steel, materials and equipment safely.

• Receiving and checking incoming deliveries.

• Maintaining yard, storage, and stock areas.

• Assisting with stock control and material organisation.

• Preparing materials for collection or delivery.

• Conducting routine yard and housekeeping duties.

• Supporting workshop staff with material movements and coordination.

• Current forklift licence (essential).

• Experience in a yard, warehouse, workshop, manufacturing or construction environment.

• Strong manual handling capability and willingness to perform a wide variety of physical work.

• Good organisational and coordination skills.

• Ability to work safely and follow procedures and verbal instruction.

• A thorough, proactive approach and strong attention to detail.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.

• Experience loading trucks, trailers or delivery vehicles will be highly regarded.
