Simulus Laboratories provides batch and pilot plant testwork for process development across the full project lifecycle, from early concept through to feasibility. Part of Lifezone Metals (NYSE: LZM), Simulus specialises in hydrometallurgical process development and testing, combining laboratory, pilot plant and engineering expertise to support critical minerals projects globally.
We are seeking a Metallurgist to join our Welshpool laboratory team. This is a permanent Perth-based, non-FIFO role coordinating metallurgical testwork programs across a range of hydrometallurgical and mineral processing projects.
Working closely with clients, metallurgical technicians and senior metallurgists, you will analyse testwork results, support process development activities and contribute to technical solutions for projects around the world.
About the role
Reporting to the Metallurgy Manager, you will coordinate metallurgical testwork programs, ensuring work is delivered safely, accurately and in accordance with client requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
Coordinate bench-scale metallurgical testwork programs to ensure safe, accurate and timely delivery.
Liaise with clients regarding project requirements, progress and results.
Review, analyse and interpret metallurgical test data, including mass balances and metallurgical calculations.
Provide technical direction and support to Metallurgical Technicians.
Prepare technical reports, presentations and client deliverables.
Support the setup, operation and reporting of pilot plant programs.
Support laboratory testwork activities as required.
Maintain compliance with laboratory quality and safety standards.
About you
We are looking for a motivated and analytical metallurgist who enjoys solving technical challenges and working closely with clients and project teams.
You will have:
Bachelor of Engineering (Metallurgical, Chemical or Minerals Processing), Bachelor of Science (Metallurgy), or an equivalent tertiary qualification in a related discipline.
3+ years' experience in metallurgy, mineral processing or metallurgical testwork.
Experience analysing and interpreting metallurgical data and applying common mineral processing testwork methodologies.
Experience preparing or contributing to technical reports and project deliverables.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with clients and colleagues.
A collaborative approach, strong accountability and a commitment to continuous learning.
Hydrometallurgical experience is advantageous but not essential.
