Trades assistant

Responsibilities:

1. Material Preparation: Assist in the preparation of materials, tools, and equipment required for specific trade tasks. This may include cutting, measuring, and organizing materials to ensure they are readily available for use.

2. Site Maintenance: Keep the work site clean and organized. This includes cleaning up debris, disposing of waste, and ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored at the end of each day.

3. Equipment Operation: Operate basic tools and equipment under the guidance of skilled tradespeople. This may include power tools, hand tools, and other specialized equipment relevant to the trade.

4. Assist in Construction Activities: Support tradesmen in various construction activities such as lifting heavy materials, digging, and basic carpentry work.

5. Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Report any unsafe conditions or incidents promptly.

6. Communication: Maintain effective communication with the trades team, providing updates on progress and promptly reporting any issues or concerns.

7. Learn and Develop Skills: Take initiative in learning and developing skills related to the specific trade. This may involve on-the-job training and attending relevant workshops or courses.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
3. Basic knowledge of construction and trade-related activities.
4. Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
5. Strong work ethic and a willingness to learn from experienced tradespeople.
6. Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
7. Basic understanding of safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Working Conditions:

This position involves physical labor and exposure to various weather conditions. The Trades Assistant may be required to work on construction sites, and the ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment is essential.
