Primary objective
The Safety and Quality Manager leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality, safety, risk management, accreditation,
and continuous improvement programs across the Oral Health Service, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and National
Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, and partnering with the Central Australia Quality Manager to support consistent quality,
safety, accreditation and improvement activities across both sectors.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide strategic leadership and expert advice on quality, safety, risk management, consumer engagement, accreditation, and clinical
governance to support the delivery of safe, high-quality oral health services.
2. Lead and coordinate accreditation, audit, and quality improvement programs, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, standards,
and ACHS/ACSQHC requirements.
3. Manage incident, complaint, feedback, and risk management systems, including investigations, reporting, corrective actions, and
continuous improvement initiatives.
4. Analyse quality and safety performance data and prepare reports, briefings, and recommendations to inform decision-making,
organisational learning, and service improvement.
5. Manage public complaints through investigations, preparing and issuing written correspondence or liaising directly with complainants
as required, and preparing reports and ministerial briefing where applicable.
6. Develop, implement, and evaluate policies, frameworks, education programs, and projects that strengthen quality, safety, and clinical
governance across the Oral Health Service.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in quality, safety, risk management, and clinical governance within a healthcare environment.
2. Sound knowledge of National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards accreditation standards and experience leading
accreditation, audit, and continuous quality improvement activities.
3. Working knowledge of NT Health and Oral Health Service policies, protocols, procedures, and relevant legislative and regulatory
requirements.
4. Highly developed analytical, investigation, and report-writing skills, with the ability to interpret data and provide evidence-based
recommendations.
5. Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and evaluate policies, frameworks, projects, and quality improvement initiatives.
6. Well-developed leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build productive relationships,
influence outcomes, and manage competing priorities effectively.
