Opal is an industry-leading paper and packaging business across Australia and New Zealand. We have an exciting opportunity to join the Opal team as our site in Botany, NSW is currently looking for an experienced Project Engineer to come onboard!

With the ongoing development of our Paper Mill in Botany, there is a strong pipeline of initiatives that require dedicated project management to see them through to completion, with a high level of emphasis on safety/compliance, efficiency, and profitability.

The key focus of this role will be to:

• Properly identify and scope CAPEX projects
• Oversee the implementation of CAPEX projects
• Manage multiple projects across the entire paper mill operation
• Ensure Change management is handled in structured and controlled manner
• Working closely with the site groups to scope and develop project plans
• Setting and managing the project budget
• Identifying project risks and implement mitigation plans
• Coordinating all activities and work for the initiatives link to project (including: coordinate with contractors, manage work teams, liaise with external project managers, etc.)

For this role we would ideally like you to have:

• A bachelor's degree engineering degree (electrical, mechatronics or mechanical)
• 5 years of experience in project engineering/ project management
• Ability to communicate effectively with multiple stakeholders
• Experience in overseeing multiple projects at once
• Previous experience working in a continuous manufacturing environment (preferably heavy industry)
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
