Environmental Services Assistant

Join the dedicated Environmental Services team at Warners Bay Private Hospital as a Casual Environmental Services Assistant, helping maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our patients, visitors and staff.

As part of our Environmental Services team, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality healthcare services by maintaining cleanliness and hygiene across clinical and non-clinical areas of the hospital.

You will work as part of a supportive team while also having the opportunity to work independently, ensuring hospital areas are maintained to a high standard and in accordance with infection prevention and control and workplace health and safety requirements.

You have a positive attitude, strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. You understand the importance of maintaining a clean and safe healthcare environment and are comfortable interacting respectfully with patients, visitors and hospital staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain clinical and non-clinical areas to a high standard.
• Clean patient rooms, wards, bedrooms, bathrooms, offices, corridors and common areas.
• Perform vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sanitising and general housekeeping duties.
• Make and change patient beds as required.
• Remove rubbish and waste safely and efficiently in accordance with hospital procedures.
• Safely use cleaning equipment, products and chemicals.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies as required.
• Follow Infection Prevention and Control and Environmental Services procedures at all times.
• Maintain a clean, safe and hygienic environment for patients, visitors and staff.
• Identify and report maintenance issues, hazards or concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with patients, visitors and hospital staff.
• Work collaboratively with team members to achieve daily cleaning objectives.
• Follow Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.
• Undertake other Environmental Services duties as required.

You Will Also Bring

• Previous experience in cleaning, housekeeping or environmental services is desirable.
• Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare environment is highly regarded.
• Understanding of basic cleaning, hygiene and infection prevention principles.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Ability to safely use cleaning equipment, products and chemicals.
• Ability to follow procedures and work safely in a healthcare environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional, respectful and caring approach when interacting with patients, visitors and staff.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Reliable, punctual and conscientious work ethic.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Flexibility and availability to work across a casual roster, including weekends and varied shifts as required.
