The Inclusive Team
About the role
The Inclusive Team is looking for an Entry Level / Career Transition Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our growing team on the NSW Central Coast.
This role is ideal for someone with a relevant professional or tertiary background who is interested in moving into Positive Behaviour Support. Previous Behaviour Support Practitioner experience is not required.
We are particularly interested in applicants from backgrounds such as Psychology, Social Work, Special Education / Teaching, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Behaviour Analysis, Disability, Human Services or other related fields.
Our focus is on finding the right person with strong transferable skills, good communication, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in supporting people with disability.
What the role involves
You will work one-on-one with participants to understand their behaviour, identify what may be contributing to it and develop practical strategies to improve quality of life and support outcomes.
As your skills develop, the role will include:
Building rapport with participants and their support networks
Conducting participant observations and interviews
Gathering and analysing behaviour-related information
Contributing to functional behaviour assessments
Developing Behaviour Support Plans and practical strategies
Working with families, support workers, SIL providers, schools and other professionals
Providing education and training to support teams
Completing reports, documentation and case notes
Regular face-to-face participant appointments across the Central Coast
Training and support
We understand that moving into Behaviour Support is a significant career transition.
You will receive structured training when you commence, along with ongoing supervision, mentoring and support as you develop your skills and confidence in the role.
You will not be expected to know how to be a Behaviour Support Practitioner from day one.
There is also opportunity for relatively quick salary progression as your capability, independence and experience in the role develop.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
Holds a relevant tertiary qualification or professional background
Has experience working with or supporting people with disability
Has strong communication and relationship-building skills
Writes well and is comfortable completing professional documentation
Is organised, reliable and able to manage their own workload
Is open to feedback and keen to learn
Enjoys working independently while still being part of a supportive team
Holds a current driver's licence and has access to a reliable vehicle
Holds or is willing to obtain the required NDIS worker screening checks
About the role
This is a flexible mobile role servicing participants across the NSW Central Coast, with the ability to complete report writing, planning and administration from home.
We have an established caseload available.
If you are looking for a career change where you can use your existing skills while developing a career in Positive Behaviour Support, we would love to hear from you.
