About the role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Clinical Trials Pharmacy Technician, also known as Investigational Product (IP) Technician to join our Clinical Trials Pharmacy team in Sydney. This role offers the opportunity to work with innovative clinical research studies and support the preparation and management of investigational products used in cutting-edge medical research.
About the Role
As an IP Technician, you will work closely with our Clinical Trials Pharmacists to support the management of investigational products used in clinical trials.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in sterile compounding or hospital pharmacy who is looking to develop specialist skills in clinical research and IP management.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the dispensing and compounding of investigational products in accordance with study protocols and pharmacy procedures.
Support study-specific IP management activities, including ordering, receipt, accountability, and communication with sponsors and Clinical Research Associates (CRAs).
Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure appropriate storage and handling of medications and investigational products.
Assist with clinical trial study set-up activities, and close out activities such as archiving.
Apply aseptic techniques during the preparation and compounding of investigational products.
Assist with training staff in aseptic techniques where required.
Ensure compliance with SOPs, GCP, GMP, TGA requirements and all applicable regulatory standards.
Assist with maintaining pharmacy documentation and study records.
Support pharmacy operations by maintaining a clean and organised work environment.
Perform scheduled cleanroom maintenance and deep-cleaning activities.
Have oversight of continuous temperature monitoring in relevant IP storage areas, including addressing any temperature alarms or deviations.
Provide administrative support and assist with general pharmacy duties as needed.
Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, study coordinators and clinical research staff.
About You
Essential
Compounding experience, including aseptic preparation techniques.
Experience working in sterile manufacturing or cleanroom environments.
Ability to prioritise workload, multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Strong written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
Flexible and adaptable with a willingness to support operational requirements when needed.
Flexibility to occasionally work outside standard business hours when required.
Highly Desirable
Experience working with investigational products or within a clinical trials environment.
Understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
