An opportunity has presented itself for a Trainee Locomotive Driver to join our team in Broken Hill, New South Wales. This is a rare opportunity to begin a rewarding career in rail, receiving comprehensive training while earning a competitive income.

What You’ll Do

Develop the skills and knowledge required to safely operate locomotives and trains through a structured traineeship program.

Reporting to the Supervisor, you will:

• Complete a nationally recognised Certificate IV in Train Driving through our accelerated trainee program
• Undertake practical and theoretical training in locomotive and train operations
• Learn to prepare, manage and operate locomotives and trains safely and efficiently
• Follow operational procedures and safety standards to ensure safe service delivery
• Work as part of a train crew supporting freight services across the network
• Participate in competency-based assessments and ongoing development activities
• Work a rotating 24/7 roster including nights, weekends and public holidays
• Travel and stay away from home when required as part of operational requirements

What You’ll Bring

• A strong commitment to safety and safe work practices
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer literacy and confidence using technology
• A willingness to learn and develop new skills
• Flexibility to work a highly variable roster including shift work
• Capacity to work away from home for varying periods when required
• A current unrestricted C Class Driver's Licence
• Previous experience in shift work, transport, logistics, mining, defence or similar industries will be highly regarded, although not essential
