Maintenance Officer

The Opportunity  Bridgeman Downs Retirement Village is a close-knit community set amongst beautifully maintained gardens and grounds. Home to 180+ independent retirement living units & apartments. As a Maintenance Officer, you will play an important role within the community ensuring homes and shared spaces are safe, functional and well presented. You’ll manage a range of reactive and preventative maintenance tasks, from repairs to general handyperson work, while engaging positively with residents. This is an ideal opportunity for someone with a trade background or strong domestic maintenance experience, who is friendly, proactive, and passionate about helping others.   This is a permanent full-time position working Monday-Friday 7:30am-3:30pm   Your Impact    Completing general repairs and handyperson tasks such as painting, picture hanging and light replacements Performing small plumbing maintenance, including replacing taps and washers Supporting the upkeep of external assets such as lighting and sprinkler systems Carrying out scheduled preventative maintenance across the community Managing community tools and equipment to ensure they are safe, organised and fit for purpose Recording maintenance activities, notes and job updates Being a friendly and approachable presence for residents while working closely with a supportive team Please note - this is not a gardening role (we have that covered!)     What you'll bring    Experience in a general maintenance or trade‑based role, including hands‑on handyperson tasks A proactive, solutions‑focused approach, with the ability to assess issues, troubleshoot and take action An understanding of maintenance cycles and the expected lifespan of equipment and village assets Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to explain maintenance works in a resident‑friendly way A positive, approachable attitude and a strong sense of pride in your work A valid driver’s licence (essential) Minimum of two (2) COVID-19 vaccinations (required)    What we offer    $30.41/hr + superannuation + relevant award entitlements including penalty rates, overtime and allowances   Employee Referral Program and Employee Assistance Program  Discounts to Health Insurance and Retail & Leisure partner providers  Annual flu vaccinations and skin checks  The opportunity to build meaningful, lasting relationships with residents and contribute to our retirement community    Who we are  As a leader in retirement living, with 30 years' experience, Aveo provides the stability and confidence to try new things and keep innovating.
