About the role
Under the direction of the Team Leader the PSP Case Worker will assist in identifying, establishing, and supporting placements for children and young people who are clients of the service in the Deniliquin regions and provide support to the clients and carers in accordance with Woomera Aboriginal Corporations' policies and procedures and statutory and legislative requirements.
Key responsibilities
Provide information, education and support to children and young people and their carers and perform casework duties in line with statutory and legislative requirements.
Monitor and assess the needs of children and young people in placements and organise ongoing support systems where necessary.
Work collaboratively with the child and young person and their carers to develop and review case plans that include specific and achievable goals and monitor the achievement of individual goals.
As directed by the Team Leader, source, implement and co-ordinate any additional support services the child or young person or carer may require.
Maintain each child or young person's Life Story work.
Always maintain confidentiality in relation to records for children, young people and their carers who are clients of the organisation.
Assist with carer assessments when required.
Develop networks and maintain mutually beneficial working relationships with industry and other stakeholders.
Liaise where necessary with the Department of Communities and Justice case workers and as required by statutory legislation report any case of suspected risk of harm to children or young people who are clients of the service.
Provide on-call after-hours services when rostered.
About you
Minimum Cert IV of Community Services or related field.
Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Client Management systems.
Working knowledge of the Child and Young Persons Care and Protection Act NSW (1998) and its amendments.
Working knowledge of the OCG child standards and Mandatary Reporting.
Sound knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and/or experience working in or for Aboriginal communities.
Demonstrated experience working in trauma informed care and practice.
Well-developed interpersonal skills, proven experience in report writing and record management, and the ability to problem solve, negotiate, and resolve concerns and conflict.
Proven analytical and assessment skills.
Proven ability to multi-task and prioritise often competing workloads to meet reporting requirements within set timeframes.
A current satisfactory NSW Working with Children's Check, National Police Check, Driver History, and current driver's license.
