Library Assistant - Children’s Services (Parental Leave Opportunity - Temporary Part Time)

Mid-Western Regional Council is looking for a Library Assistant - Children’s Services to join our team and help make the library a fun, welcoming and engaging place for children and families. This is more than shelving books, you’ll help bring stories to life, get creative with craft activities and inspire children to discover a love of reading and learning. Design
and deliver engaging children’s outreach programs and services that foster early literacy, creativity, and a love of reading. The role supports the delivery of inclusive
and high-quality customer experiences across all library branches, contributes to the development and promotion of junior collections, and strengthens connections between families, young people, and the Library community.What you’ll do
Deliver storytelling and craft activities for pre-school and school-aged children.
Support children’s programs, library visits and events.
Provide friendly customer service and assist customers with library services and resources.
Help customers use computers, photocopiers and other library equipment.
Assist with maintaining the library collection and records.
Work alongside staff, volunteers and work experience personnel.
School Certificate or equivalent.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Confidence working with children individually and in groups.
The ability to deliver engaging storytelling and craft activities.
Basic computer and information-gathering skills.
A positive, creative and team-focused approach.
A commitment to workplace health and safety.
Please note a paid Working with Children Check and a National Criminal History Check is required prior to commencement
Work Arrangements:
This is a temporary part-time position of 19 hours per week. Programs and events are currently scheduled on Monday, Tuesday and Friday across all Council Library locations, the successful applicant will be required to work on these days as operationally required.

The fortnightly salary range being offered for the position of Fixed-Term Part-time Library Assistant - Children's Services is $1280.54 - $1440.14 gross per fortnight (dependent on skills, qualifications and experience) plus superannuation.
