THE POSITION:
To assist in all aspects of the operation of the Albury Recycling Centre.
ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the coordination of an orderly approach to the sorting of recycling and rubbish disposal by providing a high level of customer service and guidance to customers and visitors.
- Operate and perform preventative maintenance on small plant located in the ARC within accordance with the manufacturers' requirements, licence conditions, NSW Safework regulations and council policies and procedure.
- Perform daily checks on plant and machinery to ensure mechanical, safety and operational compliance
- Processing of materials, including shredding, granulating, dismantling, baling and separation for recycling/reuse
- Segregate and package recycling materials for transport offsite.
- Assist contractors in the pickup of materials for recycling.
- Store materials, plant, equipment and tools securely, including monitoring facilities for signs of unauthorised entry
- Direct and supervise recycling and waste disposal by the public and contractors.
- Undertake daily cleaning and maintenance of the recycling centre, domestic general waste push pit areas and surrounds, and assist in litter control across the greater site as required.
- Assist, monitor and maintain reuse and recycling area including team room and staff facilities in a clean and tidy manner.
- Extract any undesirable/unsuitable items from waste and recyclable materials.
- Use relevant skills to assist in other areas of Resource Recovery, including guiding and mentoring other team members as required.
- Perform other tasks or duties as directed by the Leading Hand/Supervisor which are within the limits of the employee's skill, competence and training.
- Observe requirements of the WHS Legislation, relevant to the job and adhere to AlburyCity Policies and Procedures regarding WHS.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:
- Based on a 38-hour week, with actual days and times being Monday to Friday between the hours of 7.00am to 5.30pm, with an RDO in accordance with AlburyCity's RDO guidelines. These times may vary due to operational requirements and will be determined by the supervisor.
- Hours additional to those rostered may be required, depending on operational requirements. These will be by agreement and be paid at the appropriate rates.
- This position may be required to be on call outside normal working hours on a roster basis. This will be in agreement with the supervisor and will attract the appropriate allowance.
- This position requires you to wear a compulsory uniform as per AlburyCity’s Our People Dress Code Standards. Our People are required to present a smart and professional image to the public at all times including when in public and when working remotely.
- This position will be provided with vaccination against the following infectious diseases:
- This position involves working in a predominantly outdoor environment where a varying range of temperatures, weather conditions and walking surfaces may be experienced. The position requires a moderate level of aerobic and physical fitness to undertake regular physical activities such as walking, lifting, pulling, pushing along with the capacity to maintain normal manual handling tasks across the workday - depending on the nature of the tasks undertaken. The use of relevant work method statements and appropriate WHS standards are an integral part of the role. A full functional and medical assessment is required for this position.

- This position is located at Albury Waste Management Centre (Albury Landfill), Centaur Road, Lavington, with occasional visits to external sites/depots and AlburyCity Administration Building as required.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Construction Induction Card
- Forklift Licence
- Class C (Standard) Driver's Licence (compulsory to have and maintain)
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- Traffic Controller's Certificate
- Heavy Rigid Driver's Licence
- Front End Loader Licence
- Experience or competency in excavator operation
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working in a landfill or resource recovery environment
- Experience operating small plant and equipment
- Customer service experience
