ABOUT THE POSITION:
Based at our Merri-bek Collection Store Annexe, you will manage Museums Victoria's History & Technology collections and the collection information that goes with them. Manage History and Technology stores and collections, primarily at the Merri-bek Collection Store Annexe.
Implement procedures, systems and practices relating to History and Technology collections, in consultation with curators and other collection specialists.
Maintain and update collection datasets, conduct database searches and produce database reports.
Deliver prioritised collection management services to support research access, exhibitions, loans, public programs and collection development activities.
Implement procedures and practices to identify, document and manage hazardous substances in collections, and ensure relevant OH&S procedures are followed.
The successful applicant will have:
Specialist knowledge and experience of collection management and museology relating to history and technology collections.
Knowledge of national and international principles, practices, standards and ethics for managing history and technology collections.
Demonstrated experience in digital collection data management, particularly with collection management databases such as KE EMu, location control systems such as MVWISE and digital archiving systems.
Demonstrated commitment to safe work practices and experience managing hazardous substances in collections.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams.
