Geotechnical Drillers Offsider

We are seeking a GEOTECHNICAL DRILLERS OFFSIDER

This is geotechnical drilling, (not exploration or blast hole.) It's not FIFO or DIDO, the jobs vary in length and location. There is no set roster, this IS NOT a mining job. There is frequent work away from Perth.

There will be an initial probation period, this will be on a casual rate. After probation the position may become permanent full time position with penalty rates, overtime and leave.

The job will require heavy lifting and repeated manual handling for most of the day. You will be working out in the elements, hold, cold, rain, etc, unless there's lightening or hail; you'll be working.

Between drilling jobs there will be yard work, you must have reliable transport to get to the yard, there's no public transport nearby; and a valid manual drivers licence min LR, this is a non negotiable, you need to be able to drive our water truck.

MAIN DUTIES

• listen to and follow guidance of the driller

• pre-start of rigs at start of day and clean and maintain rigs at the end of the job

• manual handling to load and unload equipment from vehicles

• setting up and packing down site

• operating of water truck, fill up at standpipe or water source

• use initiative to work independently while the driller does his job.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

• Minimum LR drivers license essential must have. HR desirable

• Ability to be on your feet and doing manual handling all day

• Mechanical aptitude

• Ability to work under pressure, and occasionally work unsupervised.

• Good clear spoken English

• The ability to do online inductions

• Offsiding experience will be looked at upon favourably, particularly geotechnical with knowledge of SPT's and core barrel configuration.

YOU

Ideally you will be safety focused, be able to go lengths of time without needing to stop and sit (between smoko and lunch breaks.) You will work well under pressure, in noisy environments with uneven, slippery ground, always outdoors, you will take instruction and constructive criticism on board and learn from the feedback.

You are fit and strong. This is a long term position, we are after someone that wants to stick around and become a trainee driller.

You will be required to do a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol. And be able to provide a police clearance for some mine site work.

You must have a minimum of an LR drivers licence, manual-synchro is fine. A major part of this role is to drive the water truck, we can't hire you without at least your LR licence.
