Eaton Recreation Centre (ERC) is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our Expression of Interest Pool for future Café Attendant and Café Kitchen/Cook opportunities at our recreation centre café.

The ERC café provides canteen and café service across selected evenings and weekends, aligned with facility bookings and usage — including sport and recreation programs, events and functions. This means hours of work are casual and often fall outside standard business hours (evenings and weekends), with shifts matched to when the centre and its hirers are active.

About the roles

Café Attendant

Our café attendants are the friendly face of the café — serving customers, processing sales through the POS system, preparing light food and beverages, maintaining a clean and welcoming café space, and helping ensure every visitor leaves with a positive impression.

Café Kitchen/Cook

Our café kitchen/cooks take care of food preparation and cooking, kitchen operations and food safety, stock management, and working closely with café attendants to deliver a quality menu during service periods.

What We’re Looking For

•       Excellent customer service skills and a friendly, professional manner.

•       Experience using point-of-sale (POS) and receipting systems (essential for Café Attendant).

•       Food preparation, cooking and kitchen experience, including knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (essential for Café Kitchen/Cook).

•       Ability to work independently and as part of a small team during busy service periods.

•       Reliable and flexible availability to work casual shifts across evenings and weekends, aligned with facility bookings and usage.

•       Current Working with Children check and National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain).

•       A Food Safety Handler certificate or equivalent is highly regarded for Café Kitchen/Cook applicants.

•       Previous experience in a café, canteen, hospitality or recreation facility setting is highly regarded.

•       Availability and willingness to work primarily weekends and some weeknight evenings.

About the Expression of Interest Pool

This pool allows you to register your interest for future opportunities at ERC. Applications will remain active until 30 June 2027 and suitable applicants may be contacted as vacancies arise.
