About the role
The Company
LAI Group is one of Australia’s largest switchboards and switchrooms manufacturers. With over 115 years of combined experience, we are a leader in the design and manufacture of custom switchboards and switchrooms in Australia.
As a result of continuous national growth, LAI Group is seeking Trade Assistants to join our team across our three manufacturing plants in Adelaide (Ferryden Park, Beverly and Direk) within one of our Workshop Departments. Schedule
Full Time and Casual positions available
A 38-hour week (Monday – Friday + reasonable overtime).
Wage (Negotiable - Experience, knowledge, and ability will be taken into consideration).
The Position
This role is hands-on and requires someone with a proactive attitude, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety. The successful candidate will work closely with leading hands to ensure that tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
Construct switchboard frameworks as per the mechanical drawings.
Ensure the base frame aligns with the drawing and meets the inspection checks.
Safely and carefully install switchgear.
Materials and components are inspected for quality and quality before construction.
Verify that the equipment/stock being used is as per the drawing.
Use of general hand tools.
The Candidate
We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic individual who is eager to learn and grow within the electrical trade. The ideal candidate will be a team player, demonstrate strong communication skills, and have the ability to follow instructions accurately while maintaining a high standard of work.
Desired Competencies
Ability to read and interpret control schematics and wiring diagrams.
Experience in carrying out control wiring.
White Card (Construction Induction).
Trade Assistant or labouring experience (desirable but not essential).
Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Basic understanding of electrical tools, equipment, and safety requirements.
Experience in mechanical assembly, bolting and equipment installation.
Ability to install base frames and portal frames.
Ability to operate an overhead crane (desirable, not essential).
