About the role
The Gender Centre is seeking a motivated and compassionate Caseworker to join our Specialist Homelessness Service (SHS) team.
The Gender Centre is a leading specialist organisation supporting transgender and gender diverse people across NSW. We provide specialist housing and homelessness services, counselling, health and wellbeing programs, family support, peer support, outreach, education and advocacy, and are recognised as an ASES Centre of Excellence.
The Caseworker will provide practical, person-centred and trauma-informed case management and housing support to transgender and gender diverse people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Working as part of our Specialist Homelessness Service, you will assist clients to address immediate housing needs, access crisis accommodation, sustain tenancies, work toward longer-term housing and connect with appropriate health, social and community supports.
Key responsibilities include client assessment and case planning, homelessness prevention and crisis support, housing and tenancy assistance, referrals and advocacy, outreach and home visits, maintaining client records, and identifying and escalating client safety and risk concerns.
We are looking for someone who has:
Previous experience within an SHS, housing or homelessness service and knowledge of the NSW housing and homelessness system will be highly regarded.
