About the role
Energy Advance has a large and growing team of Energy Assessors responsible for completing residential Energy Assessments for clients across Australia. As we continue to grow, we are introducing smaller, accountable Assessor Teams, each supported by a dedicated Team Leader.
As a Team Leader - Energy Assessments, you will ultimately lead approximately 6-8 Energy Assessors and take day-to-day ownership of:
Team productivity and performance
Workflow and priorities
Workload and capacity
Quality and accuracy
Coaching and development
Communication and accountability
Team culture
Continuous improvement
You will report to our Operations Managers and work closely with our Training Team Leader, Workflow Team and experienced technical team.
First, We'll teach you the job
We believe a great Team Leader should genuinely understand the work their team performs. External Team Leaders will therefore complete Energy Advance's full Energy Assessor training pathway.
You will learn:
How residential Energy Assessments are completed
Energy Advance's assessment process and methodologies
Our systems and workflows
Different assessment types and technical requirements
Client requirements
Productivity expectations
Quality and audit requirements
Technical escalation pathways
You will not be expected to arrive technically competent.
You will be expected to become technically competent. As your technical capability develops, you will progressively transition into full Team Leader responsibility.
Then, You’ll Lead
Lead People
Create clear expectations and accountability while building a positive and professional team environment.
Drive Performance
Monitor individual and team performance, identify gaps early, coach people who need support and have constructive conversations when expectations are not being met.
Manage Workflow & Priorities
Understand what your team needs to deliver each day, identify urgent work and bottlenecks, and redistribute work where necessary.
Protect Quality
Ensure productivity is never acheived at the expense of quality. Identify recurring errors, knowledge gaps, rework and training needs.
Coach & Develop
Help team memebers become increasingly capable and independent. We want leaders who develop people rather than create dependance.
Improve the System
Identify recurring problems, ineffiencies and bottlenecks and look for ways to remove the cause, not just repeatedly fix the symptom.
Who We’re Looking For:
Your exact industry background is less important than your leadership capability. You may come from operations, construction, insurance or claims, banking or finance operations, utilities, telecommunications, logistics, compliance, professional services, administration, technical services, shared services or another high-volume, process driven environment.
You will ideally have experience in:
Leading or supervising a team
Coaching and developing employees
Managing individual and team performance
Setting clear expectations and addressing underperformance
Managing competing priorities and balancing workloads
Working with productivity, quality or service KPIs
Crating accountability without micromanaging
Managing different personalities and building positive team culture
Making decisions under pressure
What You Don’t Need:
Previous experience as an Energy Assessor
Previous NatHERS Assessor experience
Previous Energy Efficiency Consultant experience
We have experience training, technical and operational resources who will support your development.
We can teach you Energy Assessments.

Your Development Pathway
PHASE 1 – LEARN - Complete the Energy Advance Energy Assessor training pathway.
PHASE 2 – DEMONSTRATE - Build technical capability through supported assessment work and demonstrate required quality and productivity standards.
PHASE 3 – LEAD - Progressively take ownership of team priorities, workload, coaching, productivity, and performance.
PHASE 4 – PERFORM - Operate as a fully functioning Team Leader with both leadership capability and technical understanding.
