About Us:

Lakeside Cafe is a welcoming café and restaurant located in Oakden, South Australia offering a diverse menu across breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Our menu includes café favourites, fresh salads, pasta, pizza, schnitzels, burgers and other quality meals, catering to dine-in, takeaway and delivery customers.

We are looking for a passionate and experienced Chef to join our kitchen team and help us maintain a high standard of food quality, presentation and service.

About the Position:

As a Chef at Lakeside Cafe, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking a wide range of dishes in a busy café and restaurant environment. You will work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure meals are prepared efficiently, consistently and to a high standard.

The successful candidate will be organised, reliable and able to work effectively during busy service periods while maintaining excellent food safety and hygiene standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch and dinner dishes according to Lakeside Cafe recipes and standards.

• Prepare a variety of menu items including pasta, pizza, schnitzels, seafood, steaks, burgers, salads and breakfast dishes.

• Prepare ingredients, sauces, salads, garnishes and other food items for service.

• Ensure consistent food quality, taste, portion size and presentation.

• Manage multiple orders efficiently during busy service periods.

• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.

• Monitor food quality, freshness, stock levels and minimise food wastage.

• Assist with receiving, storing and rotating food supplies.

• Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen.

• Coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure timely service.

• Assist with menu preparation, daily specials and training junior kitchen staff when required.

• Complete daily kitchen preparation, cleaning and closing duties.

Qualification, Experience & Skills:

• Diploma in Hospitality Management or equivalent qualification

• Minimum 12 months of full-time work experience in a café, restaurant or commercial kitchen environment

• Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and presentation standards

• Creative flair and passion for developing innovative dishes and menu concepts

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining quality

• Understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements

• Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills

• Able to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays when required
