The Role
Lead TasWater’s cyber security function and play a key role in protecting critical services, systems, and information. Working across security operations, engineering, risk management, and strategic uplift programs, you will drive a proactive security culture while leading a high-performing team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape cyber security capability, strengthen resilience, and ensure security practices support business outcomes across a complex and essential service environment.
Lead and deliver TasWater’s Cyber Security Program, driving security uplift initiatives that strengthen resilience, reduce risk, and improve cyber maturity across the organisation.
Oversee Cyber Security Operations, ensuring effective monitoring, incident response, vulnerability management, and threat protection to safeguard critical services and information.
Provide leadership and direction to a high-performing cyber security team, building capability, fostering a proactive security culture, and supporting continuous improvement.
Establish the frameworks, governance, and partnerships needed for success, embedding secure-by-design practices and ensuring cyber security outcomes align with business objectives.
Champion and role model TasWater’s Leadership Capability Framework and organisational values, ensuring all leadership behaviours are consistently demonstrated and embedded across the team.
Collaborate with teams across TasWater to strengthen cyber security awareness, align priorities, and deliver practical solutions that support operational and strategic objectives

What we're looking for
We're looking for an experienced cyber security leader who can balance strategy, risk, and operational delivery in a complex environment. You'll bring strong expertise in cyber security operations and uplift programs, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to build trusted relationships across the business. Most importantly, you'll be passionate about protecting critical services, developing high-performing teams, and driving continuous improvement in cyber resilience.
Degree in a relevant discipline such as Cyber Security, Information Technology, risk management or equivalent relevant industry certifications and experience
Strong knowledge of cyber security frameworks and standards, including the NIST Cyber Security Framework and industry best practices.
Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams, communicate cyber risks to stakeholders, and deliver meaningful security outcomes
A collaborative and influential leader who can build strong relationships and partner effectively with teams across the business.
Proven capability in managing cyber security operations, engineering functions, and security controls to enhance organisational resilience and reduce risk.

The Details
This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport and attracts a salary of $157,359 - $174,843 (inclusive of superannuation)
